Seit dem 27. Juni 2018 wird das Grundstück “Alte Sennerei” in Tenna belebt von einem ganz anderen Projekt:
Das DIG Collective aus England ist aktiv geworden hinter und in der ehemaligen Sennerei mit einem Land Art Projekt. Dies geschieht im Rahmen der Alps Art Academy, die im Rahmen der 2. Biennalen Art Safiental stattfindet. 35 Künstler und Kunststudenten aus zwanzig verschiedenen Ländern beschäftigen sich mit der Kunst Kunst zu gestalten in und mit der Landschaft.
“Internationale Künstlerinnen und Künstler erschaffen im Dialog mit der Landschaft und Natur temporäre Werke, die im ganzen Safiental freizugänglich und unentgeltlich präsentiert werden. Die vor Ort entstandenen künstlerischen Arbeiten stehen im Dialog mit Natur und Umwelt.”
Das DIG Collective wird hinter der Sennerei Raum schaffen, und zwar im gewachsenen Boden, um dort neuen Ideen und der Verbundenheit mit unserer Lebensgrundlage Platz zu geben. Damit sichtbar wird, was unser planet alles enthält, wird der ehemalige Produktionsraum der Sennerei zum temporären Museum, wo die ausgegrabene Erde während der Dauer der Installation (also bis 21. Oktober 2018) aufbewahrt und ausgestellt wird.
"A Hole in the Alps is experienced over two separate sites in Tenna: The Hole and The Land Holding Station. In June 2018, Dig Collective dug a hole in the centre of Tenna, opening up a real and symbolic space in the land of the village. The Hole is a temporary space created by communal labour and accessible to anyone and any activity over the duration of Art Safiental, until it is filled up again in the final communal ceremony of ‘making good’ on 21st October 2018. The earth excavated from The Hole was moved with the help of students from the Alps Art Academy and placed in the Land Holding Station, once a factory for producing cheeses, now repurposed by DIG Collective with the help of Othmar F. Arnold, our Lochwart. During the three month public exhibition, visitors to A Hole in the Alps are invited to carry a handful of earth from the Land Holding Station and back into The Hole, slowly closing the ritual cycle of the performance and investing this small act of labour with meaning and value. A Hole in the Alps explores participatory land art as a potential catalyst for communication, collaboration and reflection with the aim of stimulating discussions and experiences centred on our relationships with land, labour, communality, memory and time."
DIG Collective (UK)
The DIG Collective is an artist group consisting of William Bock (UK, performance artist), Sophie Mason (b. 1985, UK, artist), Alberto Duman (b.1966, artist, lecturer Middlesex University, London) and Mark Morgan (b. 1984, USA, artist). The DIG Collective was created in June 2014, when the four artists dug an 8-square-metre hole in the 500-year-old garden of a property in Hackney, London, which was earmarked for demolition. Awarded the ArtQuest Workweek Prize (2014) the group have performed at and been invited to various venues in London and internationally, including the PEER Gallery, Home Live Art, The Barbican and Tate Modern.
